You should factor out -3 here instead of 3, so youre left with like terms x+7. factoring out 3 and being left with -x-7 makes no sense.

There are different ways to factor expression, both ways lead to the same solution.
This doesn't meant that only one is correct, in this case, both are correct - factoring out '(-3)' or '3' gives the same solution in the end:
