I am very confused I need to write equation in factored form X^2+60x-7200=0 what i am coming up withis x^2-60x+120-7200

(x-60)(x+120)

x=60 and x=-120 I am not sure if this is correct is the factored form X^2-60x+120-7200 or is it x^2+x-120 HELP!

Answer provided by our tutors

Thanks for contacting us. The equation "x^2 + 60x - 7200 = 0" produces the roots:

-------------

solve for x roots

-------------

[60, -120]

This means that the factor version, (x-60)(x+120), reconstitutes the original expression, "x^2+60x-7200":

---------------

expand the factored expression

---------------

x^2 + 60x - 7200

So, writing the factored version: "(x-60)(x+120)".

One key of how [60,-120] is the set of zeros for 'x' is understanding that (60-60)=0 and (-120+120)=0, so both of the factored versions will solve for setting the expression equal to zero.
