You have probably copy pasted the partial expression from elsewhere into the colver.

We recommend typing in the equation/expression following the Math expression entry rules located here.

If you want to solve an equation, you need to type an equation (type value after "=" sign)

If you want to factor or simplify an expression you should not put "=" at the end.
