I just never seem to be able to solve a question without going wrong a few times. Please do not tell me to take extra classes. They are expensive and I cannot afford them. Any other idea would be more than welcome.

Most of the content is however designed for the people who already have some knowledge about this subject. If you are a complete beginner, you should use Algebrator.
